I want to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of your Young Affiliates Board. We are all looking forward to the year ahead and hope you are too.
This group has truly enhanced my young professional life here in Charlotte in many ways. I was introduced to new cultural opportunities, enjoyed the social events, made wonderful friends and gained leadership skills. I have loved being able to give back to my community through my Board involvement and am truly honored to hold the title of President this year.
We have set some big goals and need your help to meet them. In this 2011/12 year, we will work to increase our total membership by 10%. As a member, we hope you will be excited to bring non-members to events, tell them about your experience and encourage them to join. This growth also means we must retain members as well. If you are a current member, please renew your membership to continue to enjoy great benefits such as free Mint Museum admission, reduced-cost tickets to events and much more!
A philanthropic initiative for us this year will be to raise $20,000 towards Project FundaMINTal. This is our effort to help support the Mint’s Annual Fund. This fund provides for the critical needs of the museum, including education programs for visitors of all ages, preservation of the collection, and key operational support.
In the coming year, the Mint will improve access to educational opportunities, allow for greater exposure of their growing collection, and continue to welcome those who seek the solace and inspiration that the arts so ably provide. Please remember that your support at our annual fundraisers goes toward Project FundaMINTal along with any additional gifts you wish to make.
I strongly encourage you to join a committee and consider applying for a Board position next year. This type of involvement will truly enhance your experience with us. It’s a great way to become immersed in Charlotte’s vibrant cultural and young professional community. Plus, it’s fun!
