The Young Affiliates of the Mint is governed by a volunteer board of twenty-five members, which provides an opportunity for members to gain valuable skills in leadership and community involvement.
Board members serve three-year terms and are elected to the board based on their community involvement and volunteer commitment to the Young Affiliates. Board members plan events, mentor new volunteers, build the membership base, raise money for MMA, raise cultural awareness and participate in other Mint functions. The President of the Young Affiliates also holds a position on the Board of Trustees for the Mint Museums.
